READING: on the last leg of michael pollan's new book, the omnivore's dilemma, which i highly recommend. it is by turns funny, inspiring, maddening, and depressing, but it is always interesting. perhaps the most interesting section is the one focused around a "grass farmer" in virginia named joel salatin.

WEARING: jeans. gray flowered sleeveless tee. no shoes at the moment. chipped blue paint on the toenails.

PLANNING: spending the afternoon grading today. tonight going to graduation to see [livejournal.com profile] evernanon get sheepskinned. i think a couple of other friends are walking today too, so it should be interesting. i think there might be a latenite dinner fiesta planned as well. tomorrow i'm going to help [livejournal.com profile] superannuated1l break rocks in the hot sun, then i'll clean myself up and go to [livejournal.com profile] evernanon's graduation shebang. sunday...breakfast with my roomies, and perhaps more grading. final grades are due monday at 10am. maybe i'll get mine in on time this quarter.

"final grades are due monday at 10am. maybe i'll get mine in on time this quarter."

is there a penalty for not getting them in on time, other than having to deal with emails from panicked/angry students? i've always wondered.

nope, that's the only penalty (the angry students). i mean...what are they going to do, not accept my grade sheets? dock my pay? i'm not trying to be flip; i usually get my grades in on time, but i'm also usually scrambling to finish them, and on occasion have had to turn them in in person at the academic records office.
