got lucky
wow...i *seriously* got lucky today! i went to the greek festival with A, a new friend, had a great time talking, noshing, looking at the pretty church mosaics and stained glass windows (not the usual leaded glass type--A explained to me that these windows are made with slab glass, which is broken up, faceted with a hammer, pieced into the desired design, and then grouted. so instead of lead holding the glass pieces together, it's like cement. maybe everyone else out there already knows about this...but it was new and interesting info to me!). then we walked back to A's house and had tea, after which i walked back to capitol hill. it was raining mildly as i walked up lakeside ave. enjoying the view of the city with these threatening clouds hanging over it, sun breaking through in spots, and me getting very mildly wet. it was lovely. so i just got home, and have been indoors for about 5 minutes, when there was a HUGE downpour! if i had been outside still, i would have been soaked to the skin.
anyway, it's a nice reminder of the fact that...autumn is here.
tonight i'm going to this thing A told me about--it's a benefit and CD release party for the degenerate art ensemble, and it's at con works. it looks interesting! INB is going to play. there's going to be a trapeze show, too, and i'm wondering who it will be... entry is $5-15 (sliding scale, apparently).
