happy things revisited

things that made me happy today:
1. the road on campus (uw) that is lined with sycamores, and the fact that they planted the sycamores not just along the street, but also along the sidewalks *away* from the street, so there's 4 columns of trees shading everything. the sun shining through the brown, yellow, and still green leaves onto that peculiar sycamore bark was just stunning this morning.
2. the falafil sandwich from aladdin's on the ave. that i had for lunch. yum! makes me think about how nice it would be to get a little food processor so i'd be able to make my own falafil again. i have a great recipe, but i'm not chopping up all that shit by hand! thus far i have resisted getting a FP b/c i don't want to own more STUFF. i think a FP would be really useful, though. (she pauses to weigh costs and benefits.) it would also enable me to make smoothies, and i could make baklava again. (more weighing...not fully sold yet...)
3. that i walked into class today totally prepared, with a plan and everything i needed to execute that plan. it should happen this way every day, i know, but it doesn't.
4. that my students made sense of a *very* complex paragraph in an academic essay i had them read for today. i have a great group, and they seem to be bonding with each other over the difficult material i have assigned. (hopefully they won't start planning a mutiny...) it was cool seeing all the lights go on in their eyes.

I have a blender I use twice a year.

if that'll suit your food processing needs, you're welcome to borrow it for as long as you like. (as long as I can borrow it back at thanksgiving and bastille day for pumpkin pie custard and daquiris respectively).
