Dear Lazyweb...WTF?

Can anyone out there explain why Yahoo mail keeps crashing Firefox on me today? I'm using a MacBook with the newest version of OS-X, fully updated and current (ditto Firefox), etc. As soon as I open the mail window--and only on Yahoo--I get the spinning rainbow ball, and it takes *forever* to load my inbox. Then I click on a message...again, spinning rainbow ball and a long wait. When I try to reply to a message, that's when all hell breaks loose and the program (Firefox) just stops responding. Oh, and yes...I tried switching back to Yahoo's "classic" mail and the same thing happened.

Is this just a temporary problem with Yahoo's mail servers--something everyone out there is probably experiencing--as glaucon has surmised? Or is it potentially a problem with malware or some other crap like that having been loaded into my computer surreptitiously? I know Macs are widely considered to be mostly immune to such malevolent viral forces, but I figure it's only a matter of time, and now is as good of a time as any, ya know? I'm suspicious because this is happening on the heels a very noticeable uptick in Russian spam to my yahoo inbox, which started about a month ago. I get *tons* of it, and Yahoo's spam filter, which generally works really well, seems almost helpless against it.

Anyway. Any insights would be much appreciated.

I'm on I.E 7 and yahoo mail that has worked for as long as I recall no longer loads. I have to go to "AT&T mail classic" or somethign like that to get my mail.

Oh...weird. Thanks for letting me know. It's probably an issue on the Yahoo end of things, then. I'm not having too many problems reading my mail, I just can't reply to it or send out new messages.

Oddly, I was able to reply to a friend a little bit ago, but when I tried to reply to a message from my sister it didn't work. The only difference I can see is that my friend was writing from another yahoo account.

I use Yahoo Mail and Firefox and I have had no problems today. I also have not noticed any Russian spam. And I'm on a PC, not a Mac.

Yahoo! mail took a sharp turn for teh suck a few weeks back. I actually waited for 30 minutes to get a Yahoo! CS rep on a live chat (though I can't swear he passed the Turing test)... and it was infuriating. I told him every Yahoo! mail user I knew was complaining, and he offered to troubleshoot my browser. I said I found it hard to believe he wasn't informed of major problems by his betters. He had nothing. He said nothing.

I'm on a PC, Windows XP, Firefox. Something's going on at Yahoo!
