bandage off

so i removed the occlusive dressing from my surgical scar monday night, as directed by my physician.

no stitches! my tummy is being held together with super glue. how cool is that?

the incision is only like 2-2.5 inches long. the flesh around it still looks bruised, but otherwise it's pretty innocuous. doesn't at all look like the site of so much trouble.

they may have actually used a subcuticular stitch with absorbable suture, so that you can't tell that there's a stitch there at all.
glad you're healing up!

i'm sure there's some kind of stitches inside--don't they have to stitch up each layer of muscle? the incision looks and feels like it has some kind of glue in it, though. it's smooth and kinda hard, and feels a little plastic.

heheh. i'm barbie.

awwww! i just read your posts. no more appendix, eh? did they take your gallbladder too?
i'll be at shorty's for my birthday this sunday. stop by and say hello if you're in the neighborhood :)

no, they didn't take my gall bladder. i think they only take that out if you're having stones or other problems with it... isn't it further up, like by your ribcage, too?

i'll try to stop by sunday. remind me where shorty's is... also what time you'll be there. :-)

heehee....i just remember in anatomy & physiology class they told us that they almost always take the gallbladder out during appendix removal just so that they don't have to go after it later on - even if it's showing no problems. it's good that they ask nowadays.

Shortys is on 2nd ave between bell and blanchard...a couple doors north of the Crocadile Cafe' :) welcome back to SEA.

Wow...superglue...that *is* kewl...does it hurt much?

[identity profile] arguchik.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
the pain isn't sharp anymore. it still aches a little, but ibuprofin works like a charm. it lets me know that i shouldn't lift things or bend/twist funny.

lol--i'm not sure if it's superglue or not, but it feels like there's something glue-like over the incision.
