potential/kinetic energy

sometimes a change happens and you realize you've been waiting for it, poised for motion but not moving. then you move--pushed, pulled, or self-motivated, it doesn't matter. potential energy gives way irreversibly to kinetic energy and it overwhelms, you can't believe how much speed you pick up almost immediately. within days, hours even, your whole life looks different. better and richer in some ways, sad and a bit too empty in others. it's always bittersweet. the big change sets off side-currents of smaller changes. they are lazier but equally irreversible. there's no path back but it's ok. the path forward is fascinating, and it's all you've ever had anyway--its manifestation in each succeeding moment. embrace it.

change is both the most difficult thing for humans and the most invigorating. Just remember that it doesn't mean a loss of everything that's come before...

yeah...been through it a few times. i'm learning to keep what's important. you have to step kind of carefully, but i think it can be done, and it's definitely worth it.
