computer compatibility query

can anyone help me? i just checked out a hypertext novel from the library--shelley jackson's patchwork girl, and i can't seem to read it on my computer. i'm running the latest version of os-x on a mac powerbook, almost 4 years old, etc. when i insert the cd-rom it tries to open os-9 classic, but that doesn't seem to be installed on my computer, and it's also not on my tiger disk.

suggestions? i've tried looking at the mac website but can't figure it out. i really want to read this text!

It looks like this was released in 1995. You probably do need OS-9 classic to run it.

However it looks like you should have that. Here's Apple's guide for setting it up. (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh763.html) It's a little sketchy but should guide you to the right CD(s).
