friday meme

i really like this meme, apparently spawned by shellefly, so i'm going to keep doing it. and my hat's off to her, for starting it!

READING: the protestant ethnic and the spirit of capitalism by rey chow, on the recommendation of my advisor. (yes, that title is a weber pun.) also re-reading the history of sexuality, v.1, by michel foucault. i'm reading chow's book because my advisor wanted me to see how she uses the concept of biopower that foucault develops in H of S.

WEARING: jeans and a sky blue sweater. my glasses. my boring birkenstock mary janes with black wool socks. no jewelry except the relatively permanent piercing jewelry i always wear. i don't really think of it as "wearing" anymore because it feels like part of my anatomy, it's been there so long.

PLANNING: in the near future, i'm planning to finish up this research project i'm doing for my job. this weekend i'm going to be working on some fellowship applications for next year, and also doing some preliminary revisions of my prospectus. (i want to wait for comments from my advisor before doing too much revision, but i'm getting restless and won't have comments from her until mid-january, because she's in mexico and didn't have time to finish reading and commenting on the draft before she left.) i also plan to spend some quality time with my sweetheart this weekend. next weekend he's going east for many many days, and i will miss him! i want to stock up on quality time before he leaves. ;-)
