Hi Everyone--
I took a mess of pics at the karaoke portion of Jeremy & Laura's wedding celebration this past weekend (in Philly). Here's a link to the set on flickr:

Unfortunately I took almost no pictures at the wedding on Saturday! I don't know why. I kind of forgot my camera was there, I think. Fortunately lots of other people took pictures, so there are plenty of them out there.

Anyway, enjoy!
i am home from michigan--my plane landed safely just before 11am, and i arrived safely home at around noon. i'm planning to spend today decompressing. it was a really good visit, but also stressful and sad-making. michigan is starting to look downright alien to me, which feels strange...

my return home yesterday morning was lovely, though. [livejournal.com profile] glaucon greeted me at the door with a smile and a wonderful hug. we "reacquainted" for a few, then headed out for brunch with [livejournal.com profile] evernanon, D, F, and E (not necessarily in that order). i had some delicious swedish pancakes. after that, we went back to [livejournal.com profile] evernanon and D's house (not joined by F, though) to watch desk set. yay! it was a perfect afternoon. just what i needed. complete with dog time. (i got lots of that in michigan, too, as each one of my siblings has at least one dog, but one can never have too much--or even enough--dog time!)

heading back to seattle in the morning. my flight leaves at 7am, eastern time, and i arrive in seattle at 11:06, pacific time. i'm really, really looking forward to getting my 3 hours back. :-)

i've had a good visit. it was great to see everyone, to reconnect with my family, and to see GR again. it looks so different, now that i've been living elsewhere for so long (i last lived here in 1994). i wonder what vermont would look like to me, if i went back there to visit. i wonder what it will be like to move away from seattle, too. i feel very rootless, sometimes.

anyway...so it has been a good visit, but it has also been emotionally difficult and exhausting. it was hard, saying good-bye to my parents earlier. i don't know when i'll see them again.

signing off for the night. i'll catch y'all on the other side of flying.

i also wanted to post about portland--[livejournal.com profile] glaucon and i went on saturday, stayed overnight, and came back sunday afternoon/evening-ish.

we went on priceline to get a rental car to drive down there, and a hotel room. ended up staying at the holiday inn by the convention center (the hotel is on 2nd ave NE, if you know portland). we spent much of saturday walking around looking for a restaurant, and finally settled on this place called pazzo. i had a salad of winter greens, pear, and white balsamic viniagrette; a mushroom risotto dish with a black truffle cheese shaved on top; and panna cotta with a glass of amazing port for dessert. WOW! it was fabulous! very expensive but...so lovely. i wouldn't want to eat like that all the time, but every now and then it's just the thing.

we also played some pinball and bought books at powell's. we tried to hook up with my friend tim, but he was busy, so it was just us. and that was exactly right. a perfect weekend.
