i finished [livejournal.com profile] glaucon's sweater!!! he doesn't want me to post a pic of him in it, but it looks really nice on him.

here is the completed sweater.

iphi takes a look...

here's a slightly closer view, with the sleeves folded over so they will fit in the frame. (iphi continues to supervise.)

here's a close-up of the neck. on this one, you can also see the "bumpy" texture of the inside. this is an extremely warm sweater. it has around 8 (4oz/113g--190yd/173m) skeins of 85% wool / 15% mohair lamb's pride worsted weight yarn in sable for the bottom and dark charcoal for the top. the silvery smudged bit just under the left shoulder is part of the yarn. both colors have a silvery cast to them that doesn't show up very well in the pictures. it's from the mohair. in that spot, there was a thicker bit of mohair spun into the yarn, so it shows up more silvery than the surrounding fabric. i think it looks cool...

i also think iphi wants to curl up on it and take a nap.

P.S. fyi, i followed a pattern made by yankee knitter designs. their patterns are always really well put together. this one is called "english rib pullover," though i changed a couple of design features: 1. i made the ribbing of the cuffs and hem continuous with the body ribbing--in they pattern they tell you to stagger it (the cuffs, hem, and collar are straight up K1P1 ribbing, whereas the body is K1P1 followed by a purl row. 2. i picked up 2 extra stitches for the collar, too, so that the pattern would also be continuous with the neck ribbing at the front and back of the sweater (it staggers at the shoulders, unfortunately--i couldn't make that come out evenly). i just thought continuity in the ribbing would look neater. 3. i also changed the collar. they call for a crew neck that is folded over and whip-stitched to the inside neckline of the sweater. i thought that would be too bulky, and besides, [livejournal.com profile] glaucon asked for a mock neck, so that's what i did. it is about 3" deep.
