Here's an article about downtown Detroit and its surroundings. Over the last few months, I've talked to a few people about what Detroit looked like when I was there with glaucon in August. This article describes the situation well. It is incomprehensible to me that it is actually getting worse there but it is. In the greater metropolitan Detroit area, the tension between rich and poor is deep, wide, and intensifying. The automotive industry bailout is just the tip of the iceberg of what that city and her people need.
