ran 2 today, my new "usual" route. it felt sloggy at first, but smoothed out after the first half mile or so. i'm starting to notice a difference in how my legs feel, both while running and while going about my business during the day. i'm not sure if it's from the running or the stretching. i do a few simple stretches both before and after running, mainly focused on the backs of my legs--calf stretches, which help prevent achilles tendinitis and shin splints (i've had screamingly bad shin splints in the past); and hamstring stretches, which prevent various sorts of knee tendinitis (i've had that before too). i also stretch my quads, and as i'm walking off the heat of a run i stretch my shoulders. either way, whether it's from running or from stretching, it feels good. i feel sproingier, lighter and quicker on my feet. at this point i'm sure it's mostly imaginary, a mental lift from actually doing it, rather than just talking about how much i need to do it.
i didn't run yesterday because i had a 7am meeting, so that puts me at 8 for the week.
