RWP

READING: recently finished giovanni's room by james baldwin. wow. amazing novel. i'm re-reading the entirety of michel foucault's discipline and punish, at the suggestion of one of my advisors. i met with her yesterday, and she thinks that book might be more helpful to me in the dissertation than the history of sexuality and the concept of biopower. i see what she means, but i'm not sure i agree entirely. we'll see as i revise the prospectus.

WEARING: jammy pants and a huge cable-knit sweater (it's a really old one from banana republic--cream yarn knit sideways so the cables are horizontal). cushy smartwool socks. i'm going out for a run in a few, so i'll be changing to running clothes momentarily. i've been home, working all day. reading, mostly. catching up on email correspondence, too, and thinking about the next assignment sequence for the class i'm teaching. i love fridays--soooo happy that our department never schedules classes on fridays.

PLANNING: glaucon has something secret planned for this evening. it's a surprise, which means i don't know what it is, and because i love surprises i'm not even trying to guess. tomorrow i'm probably going to help my friend L with some yard work, and then perhaps get some dinner and take in a movie. sunday is as yet unbooked until 4pm, when i'm going to evernanon's house with chrisanthos to learn the pet-sitting routine. sunday night is the seattle poetry grand slam. i'm looking forward to that.
