READING: Just started Oracle Night by Paul Auster. This is the book that [livejournal.com profile] glaucon picked out for me to buy with my Half Price Books gift card. (I bought several others, as well, but I picked those out myself.) I've never read Auster before, so I'm curious, and so far the writing is captivating me. (Nevermind what else I'm reading--it's all work related and I don't feel like typing about it right now.) I'm planning to start reading Maus this weekend as well.

WEARING: At the moment I am wearing absolutely nothing. Yes, really. I just got out of the shower and I'm completely naked--my hair is still towel-mussed wet. Don't ask me why I didn't wait to start typing until I was dressed. I figured nobody would notice...but I guess TELLING YOU kind of ensures that you'll notice. Yep. I'm a virtual exhibitionist, I guess.

PLANNING: To get dressed, of course. I'm heading to a round table discussion for 100-level TA's pretty soon. That starts at 10am--I'm a panelist (the panel Q&A starts at 11). I'm a little nervous. Hopefully I won't say anything dumb in front of this huge group. This evening I'll be doing volunteer duty for Circus Contraption. I'm not sure what my actual duties will be, but I'm excited to see the new show (as much of it as I get to see, anyway, which depends on which job I'm doing). The rest of the weekend...I have a bunch of grading to do, and class to prep for next week--also materials to prep for the week I'll be gone. I'm going to spend as much time helping [livejournal.com profile] glaucon enjoy his weekend--if you don't know what I'm talking about, read his latest blog entry.

KNITTING: I'm still working on my green gable tee. It's a nice summer project. I'm also working on a pair of endpaper mitts and also a branching out lace scarf.

shit like this really pisses me off. now we're supposed to blame global warming on "obese and overweight people" because they "require more fuel to transport them and the food they eat."

give me a fucking break. it infuriates me that this kind of othering, villainizing schlock passes for valid analysis and becomes headline-worthy news.
