[livejournal.com profile] glaucon and I only went to 2 out of our 4 planned movies yesterday. After watching Body of Lies (which was after The Secret Life of Bees), we tried to leave the Crest for dinner. Big mistake, though I think it also averted a bigger mistake, which would have been staying there for all 4 movies and trying to leave at midnight. The roads were pretty slushy when we got there, but they re-froze while we were in the movies, and we spent an indeterminable amount of time getting ourselves out of that vicinity.

I can see why [livejournal.com profile] bcstillman is so pissed about the City of Seattle's response (lack thereof) to the snowfall. He lives near the Crest, and the roads up there are B-A-D bad. Much worse than they are down where I live--and they're pretty bad here.

While we were still getting ourselves out--a feat that entailed driving down a scary hill (because we couldn't drive up it) and through very deep crunchy crap in a residential neighborhood that seemed endless--we were like..."if we get out of this--if--we really shouldn't go back." Once we actually were out, and headed south on merely-wet I-5, we decided definitely not to go back. Instead, we went down to the ID and had a yummy Chinese dinner at Ho Ho Seafood. I love going to the ID. I should go there more often.

Now for the rest of my day...which must involve a shower very soon, then a little trip up to the yarn shop so I can pick up some sort of fastening device for my mom's cardigan, and then I have some reading I need to do.
