yeah, the vet reassured me. said this kind of cancer kills cats within about a year of the tumor starting to form, whether you remove the tumor surgically or not (the recurrence rate is extremely high because this cancer is just so invasive). jester's tumor probably started a few months before i found it in september.
i feel that i did the right thing. he died very peacefully, and didn't have to go through too much of the downhill part. cats are so much about dignity and being in control of their lives, it just seems better this way.

(i get these spindly, almost clear spiders in my shower sometimes, and i always try to put them out onto a dry wall rather than watching them slowly overcome by the steam and the wet.) you should check out my friend L's blog--she has a picture of a dead spider in her toilet.
