Oil worries seem so passé now, don't they? Shouldn't the truly visionary worrier start thinking more about rights and access to clean water?

I saw Syriana last week, and it deepened my feelings that we absolutely need to stop using foreign oil (which now means any oil, of course); that I never want to be an instrument of U.S. foreign policy; and that religion is generally terrible. (Also, that I'm tired of feeling bad about it all, which if allowed to continue, is probably the last stage before complete abdication.)

I definitely avoid schedules whenever possible, but I've had to admit that this is too little control for long-term happiness. So much time wasted when even a little aimfulness wouldn't have added much stress... As always, some sort of balance is better.

Maybe you've heard the saying, "If you want something done, assign it to a busy person." I had a friend in college who regarded the quarters in which he overloaded on credits to be better than others, because he accepted the fact that he had to schedule everything in his life to accomodate the work load.

Ah — here's something on peak oil (http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/).
