got me some glam today. iggy and the the stooges' raw power, which is not exactly glam, i know, but what's so "proto" about its punk, exactly? that's a rhetorical question, btw. i get it. i'm just annoyed at the implication that whatever this album is, whatever it's doing, it's a nascent version of something else. fuck that. it is what it is. sui generis.* so i also picked up t.rex's the slider and tanx (which i wanted b/c it has bonus material including "children of the revolution." i already ripped electric warrior from my friend L a long time ago.
i tried to buy ziggy stardust but sonic boom didn't have it among their otherwise large and seemingly complete bowie collection. if anyone has any other glam favorites, point me toward them, please. i'm compiling a lengthy shopping/wish list.
man.......raw power is a fucking KICK ASS album.
(who knew? i can't believe i've never heard this shit before. i'm even from michigan.)
*ha--my friend L taught me this term like 3+ weeks ago and i couldn't wait for a chance to show it off.

Date: 2007-02-27 04:51 pm (UTC)I had a friend who touted "Raw Power" as the best thing ever back in high school.
I bought the cassette and tried to like it for a decade. Nowadays when I hear it (or the many pale cover versions), I realize it really does kick ass.
He was wrong about the MC5, though. Maybe it needs another decade.
