this message brought to you by class warfare.

I'm constantly amazed at how little is known with medical research. It might seem a bit silly for them to do a study for something that seems obvious, but it makes some sense because they can get real figures and proof to back it all up. But it's crazy that we've had western science for 500 years or so and a great amount of western medical research for over 100 years, and yet we "discover" things like this now in the 21st century.

A couple weeks ago, there was some big headline where medical researchers discovered that men and women's bodies aren't exactly the same. Good to know. A shame everyone that lived and died in the 20th century missed out on our newfound futuristic wisdom.

And then you go in to the doctor with your symptom being that your X hurts and you don't know why, and the doctor knows exactly why - you have this very specific ailment known as (in latin) "unexplained pain in one's X".

If it weren't for the even more abysmal scientific record of "alternative medicine" I'd give up on western medicine entirely.

Good luck at the dentist! We had family dentist day today, too. :)

wow, you all had dentist day today too? weird coincidence! the cleaning and checkup went great--no cavities! but...my TMJ has been acting up for the last 3-4 years, and i've been avoiding the expense of doing anything about it. looks like i shouldn't avoid it anymore. back in HS i had a mouth guard, which i somehow lost during my move out to seattle (yes, it still fit after all those years). the dentist thinks i should get a new one, which will cost around $300. i know from experience that the "sport" mouth guards don't do squat for my TMJ (i have alignment problems in my jaw along with the muscle pain and wear on my teeth), so i'm going to spring for the spendy custom one.

hope y'uns all had good checkups and clean bills of dental health all around!
