a day makes. took a shower this morning and was seized with a desire to clean the bathroom. so i did, top to bottom, toilet and all. i still want to clean the floor--it's got some lint and hair balls that really need to be trapped and released into the wilds of the garbage dumpster. then i went into the kitchen and did all the dirty dishes (there weren't many) sitting on the counter, before wielding pan and spoon to cook my first bowl of oatmeal since friday. weird to feel energetic after feeling sooooo lethargic for several days.
last night at about 8pm or so, i started feeling like myself again. i felt the change in the space of 15-20 minutes, i swear. it was weird, like a heavy blanket was being lifted off my body. this bug kicked my ass around for a few days, most of which i slept--including yesterday. today will be my first day eating "real" food. the closest i got yesterday was at dinnertime, when i had 2 slices of toast with vegemite (i really wanted the salt, and i think also the B vitamins). other than that, i've been subsisting on herbal tea, plain pasta, rice, chicken noodle soup, and applesauce.
i still have some lingering sinus congestion, mild coughing, and a few aches in my legs (my back was killing me yesterday, but it seems better today); but overall i feel like i'm kicking it now, rather than it kicking me.
and here's the big mystery: did i have the flu? or was it just a bad cold that hit me harder than the average bear? it's difficult to say since i'm not equipped with a state of the art viral analysis lab, but i'm thinking that because i haven't had a cold for quite awhile (2+ years?), my immune system just kicked into overdrive and made me sicker (by which i mean less functional) than i might otherwise have gotten. in other words, it was a cold virus and my body went postal on its ass. unfortunately also on its own ass, but hey, i'm alive and feeling pretty good so who am i to criticize?
an interesting experience. what should i have for lunch?
