trust the cosmos to supply you with humbling experiences right when they'll do the most good.
so today i was flying back to california to work my last week on the campaign, and i had a 2-hour layover in reno (sorry H and C--didn't think to get in touch!). i was starting to feel the "poor me" stuff kick in while i was on the flight from seattle to reno, contemplating both my medical future and my immediate future of 5 lonely days of hard work in california, away from close friends, and especially away from
glaucon. lonely, lonely, lonely... as i was de-planing, i saw this kid in front of me with what i thought were two complete leg tattoo "sleeves." they were super detailed and heavily inked, with intertwining black dragons and green jungle-y looking vines. the ink stopped at a straight line at the base of each ankle. then i realized that the really conservative looking woman behind him was his mother, and i thought, "no, he's only like 11 years old...she wouldn't let a kid that young get that much ink...surely those are just really tight leggings..."
then, once we were off the plane and on the skyway, i got closer and i realized that they were artificial legs.
yeah...poor me.
whatever.
