RWP

READING: i'm about 65 pages into dan simmons' ilium and thoroughly confused. it's simmons, though, so i trust that he's going somewhere interesting--and frankly, i kinda like it when a novel confuses me. as long as the scenery of confusion is intriguingly detailed and pretty, which it is in this case. so far my favorite character is mahnmut, a shakespearean sonnet 116-obsessed (apparent) robot-being. i'm reading other stuff too, but nothing interesting enough to report. one odd thing to be reading: i'm reviewing a bunch of my earlier grad school writing, just to see what i was up to in, say, winter quarter of 2002. hehe. i was both dumber and smarter, and knew more and less, than i thought, which is probably pretty typical.

WEARING: i'm in a doozy of an outfit today. jeans folded up to reveal crazy-striped wool socks. black tank top under a big blue hooded sweatshirt. SEX-AY!

PLANNING: at the moment i'm in west seattle, dog-sitting for my friend L. i'll be here all day, hopefully recovering. i seem to have eaten something that didn't agree with me. my tummy is less than thrilled with the world today. at 5-ish i'm going to the college inn to meet up with glaucon and whoever else shows up for his "office hours." he and i will be hanging out after that, too, but i'm not sure what we're going to do yet. tonight i'll be staying in west seattle again, and tomorrow begins the big move to portland for evernanon, her partner, and the rest of their dog and rabbit and bird show. in the morning i'll be helping them to load their truck. sometime in the afternoon we'll start heading down to portland (probably not convoy-style), unload the truck, have dinner, go out, stay overnight, and then drive back sometime on sunday. later sunday evening i'll go pick up L at the airport, go home, and do something or other.
