election 07

wow. yesterday's election was kind of a disaster. especially the seattle city council races, almost across the board. i take heart in the fact that judy fenton, the insane lady whose main plank and call to action was "let's put fig leaves on the nude man/boy statues at the olympic sculpture park to protect our children!", was not elected. sherry carr isn't great, but she's better than that. as for the rest, though...wow, it's going to be a rough 4 years.

and how the FUCK did a tim eyman initiative pass? who stuffed the ballot box on that one? this is the last thing we need. now we'll never hear the end of it, and he'll never let up. the best thing you can do with insane people is to AVOID ENCOURAGING THEM!

i'm not exactly surprised that proposition 1 was voted down. i voted for it, but with reservations. it had big problems...but we really need to fund an extension of the light rail system. really. a lot. hopefully this part of the proposition will be revived next year.

finally, at least for my commentary right now, house joint resolution 4215: to allow investment of higher education permanent funds in the stock market. this has apparently been APPROVED? WTF? has everyone gone INSANE???
