lol--last night i snuggled up with a dvd and some caramel corn (alone, alas). i watched "me and you and everyone we know." laugh out loud funny, touching, sweet, quirky, etc. there's one scene from the movie that i keep cracking up about. this girl who can't be more than 10 or 11 has a weird obsession with creating a hope chest--a trousseau or marriage dowry--for herself. she has a chest full of housewares in her bedroom. at one point she's in a department store, looking at a braun hand blender, and she asks the clerk if it's a classic, or if it's likely to go out of style in 20 years.
clerk: i'd say it's a new classic. but 20 years is a long time. in 20 years everything will be computerized.
girl (frowning slightly): soup won't be computerized.
clerk: why not?
girl (still considering): soup is a liquid...
lol--at least we have that for reassurance. soup shall remain sacred in the face of profane computerization. ;-) still, i'd pay extra for a bowl of computerized soup.
