it's not sad at all! it's glorious, brain-body candy! i'd rather be a nerd screwing on my science and theory/philosophy books than a barbie-doll plastic person with a hollow head and no sense of humor, irony, or "humanity" (for lack of a better term at the moment--though putting "humanity" in quote marks always reminds me of melville's "bartleby the scrivener," probably the weirdest story i've ever read. which also, as i'm sure you might have guessed...nevermind... anyway, the last line, in case you haven't read it, is "ah, bartleby! ah, humanity!").
