(((sigh)))
i'm switching to firefox. i've always had it anyway, and i keep it updated and all, i just tended to prefer safari for most of my browsing needs, while leaving firefox for "guest" users on my computer. the bookmarks and preferences are all the same; the only difference is that i leave my personalized sites logged off in firefox, logged on in safari. alas, safari updates are just not keeping up with updates on the websites i like to look at. for example, MSNBC recently changed their video feed technology so that i can no longer look at video in safari, but it works fine in firefox.
i like firefox just fine. this isn't the end of the world. i just like safari better, except for the video thing, and for one simple reason: it remembers where i was on a page, when i hit the "back" button. this is useful when i'm reading a news site with beaucoups headlines. i can click on a headline, read the article, and then go back to the same place on the main news page. with firefox, i have to start at the top of the main page and scroll through everything all over again. it's annoying. i have told the mozilla folks about this bug (to me, it's a bug!) but they haven't fixed it yet, or at least i haven't seen a difference yet.
i have a web question, too, regarding something weird that's been happening lately. my wi-fi router seems to "forget" that i'm there whenever i spend longer than 2-3 minutes reading a page or editing a blog entry or something. the only way to remind it that i exist is to turn airport off and back on again (on my computer, i mean; not the router itself). is there some setting i need to tweak? if so, i can't find it in airport utilities...
