spent much time this weekend cleaning my room, doing laundry, taking out the recycling, and putting my desk and bookshelves back in order. (ha--almost wrote "bookselves." a not-so-freudian slip?) i still have a moderately sized pile of papers to go through, but i'll be able to dispense with that in no time. i also went through my closet and all of my drawers, and i put together quite a large pile of shoes and clothes to take over to the goodwill. it will feel good to get it out of here.
i need to do this every so often. it's like scraping the barnacles off a ship. streamlining makes her more seaworthy.
today was a lovely day. with
glaucon i revisited a nice breakfast/brunch spot i haven't been to in awhile--the bay cafe at fisherman's terminal. he had never been there before, so it was nice to introduce him to a new place. it was super yummy! and oddly not completely swarmed with the mother's day crowd. we got a table right away. i had perfect french toast with strawberries, perfect hash browns (the kind made with shredded potatoes, nicely golden and crispy on the outside), grapefruit juice and tea. then we drove around magnolia for a little while, went back to my house for a little while, and then went out to rent some dvd entertainment and pick up some dinner.
we ended up watching the first three episodes of all creatures great and small (bbc show based on james herriot's books). i really need to get a dog soon... there was one scene in which an older guy who was recently widowed had an older dog with a tumor, and dr. herriot had to put the dog down. unbearably sad. in the next episode, dr. herriot stopped in to visit the guy, and he had adopted the cutest puppy. so fucking cute, thought i would die.
busy week ahead. wish me luck.
