READING: Still working on Paul Auster's Oracle Night. Also the Buffy Omnibus, volume 2, with which I am almost done.
WEARING: At the moment, sweatpants and my "Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes" sweatshirt that my sister gave me. It supposedly means, "If you can read this, you have too much education." (This was her way of giving me shit for pursuing a Ph.D.)
glaucon said that yeah, that's basically what it means, which was a relief--I'd hate to be walking around with some kind of Latin insult on my sweatshirt...er, at least unknowingly. Like those people who get Chinese characters tattooed on the backs of their necks, and they think the characters mean "peace" or "hero" or something but they actually mean "I have gas" or "Kick me," which I kinda want to do anyway. (Muttermuttermutterculturalappropriationmuttermutter...) It is after noon. I am as yet unshowered. I am lazy. I didn't sleep all that well last night...but I'm awake now, since I slept in and have had a couple of cups of coffee.
PLANNING: For the rest of the afternoon, I'm going to be doing stuff around the house, continuing to make sure
glaucon's recovery goes as smoothly as possible, feeding him popsicles and adjusting his pillows, and otherwise accumulating good relationship karma that I might be able to cash in someday. ;-) He's feeling much, much better today. Tonight I'm going to be volunteering for the Circus Contraption. Then, for the rest of the weekend I'm going to continue prepping for my departure to Michigan on Monday. I have stuff to prep for the person who is subbing for my Seattle class (the prepwork for my Bothell class' sub is already done and handed off), and I need to do laundry and pack. I also have to choose what knitting to take with me on the plane--which also involves choosing which needle to take along, given that there's about a 50/50 possibility that security will confiscate it, despite the fact that knitting needles are supposedly flight legal now. I know I don't want to take my Green Gable tee along, because I am in the stockinette hell portion of the pattern (for you non-knitters, this means it is very boring knitting--I'm knitting in the round, so it's just straight up, knit-knit-knit-knit, no pattern to keep track of, nothing interesting to do). I might take a new rendition of the Lace Ribbon scarf, which strikes a nice balance between interesting to knit and easy to remember--i.e. I won't need to keep glancing at a chart. Or...I might cast on for a new pair of Fuzzy Feet slippers, but that will require me doing some math first, since I'm subbing a different yarn into the pattern, one that behaves differently than the yarn the pattern calls for. They're felted, so adjusting for the difference is complicated.
KNITTING: I'm still working on the same shit that was on my needles last week. I haven't cast on for anything new. I've been making progress on both my Branching Out scarf and my Green Gable tee. I'm thinking of knitting another Lace Ribbon scarf, too--I have already completed one, in a hand painted Fleece Artist superwash merino that is just beautiful. I love it, though I think the yarn is a little too dense for the pattern (it's made with a much tighter twist than the yarn called for in the pattern). I bought some of the yarn that Veronik Avery used for the pattern, though (Classic Elite Alpaca Sox), and I'm thinking of knitting it again in a couple of different colors, perhaps to give as gifts.

Funnily enough when searching for the show, I found http://girlfromauntie.com/, a knitting site. :)
