I used regular shampoo yesterday and my hair looked and felt better (IMO) than it has in weeks. Now what?

I have to use shampoo-plus-light-conditioner like Pert Plus because ANY separate conditioner drags my hair down into a flat, heavy mess. And without a touch of conditioner?
