Like one of those statuaries in the bottom of the Fitzwilliam, in Cambridge.
(anyone know what book it's from?)
that's about all i've got right now. the weekend was great, and i'm tired now. sushi dinner friday night with a large-ish group of people to celebrate the visit of
shellefly. we got one of the tatami rooms at maneki, ate tons of sushi, then went to a nearby bubble tea place. on saturday i saw a friend who's leaving for a year in new zealand, with his wife of one week.
glaucon and i went to see billy bragg, who played kane hall on the UW campus, oddly. this guy from indiana opened for him--he was good but billy, of course, was better. it was a great show. i really love the lefties--and as
glaucon observed, it's so rare, these days, to encounter a singer who's not afraid to get up on stage and sing a union anthem. i added that he actually *wrote* the union anthem he sang, which is also remarkable. yesterday another large-ish group (overlapping but not identical to the aforementioned large-ish group) met for a barbecue, where i ate the best salsa (made by
maeveh) i've ever had.
