why are baby polar bears so cute? this one makes me want to cry, though, because he was rejected by his mom...so if he weren't in a zoo, he would have died. then again, if his mother weren't living in a zoo, where the conditions are much too warm for polar bears to live comfortably (refrigerated enclosures and artificial snow notwithstanding), she might not have rejected him.

and the cutest thing about polar bear cubs, imo: they grow up into animals that will stalk, kill, and eat pretty much any human being they encounter.

another fun polar bear fact: they have black skin, and translucent fur--the better to capture heat from sunlight.
